Pest Control Pricing in Ontario: What You’ll Actually Pay in 2026

By Jitendra Patel, Licensed Technician · Sterex Pest Control · Last updated: August 2026

Most pest control jobs in Ontario run $150–$450 for residential treatments. What you pay depends on pest type, how bad the infestation is, property size, and how many visits are included.

All prices on this page are from Sterex Pest Control — a licensed, Brampton-based company serving the GTA since 2021. Prices are before HST (13%).

Bed bug pricing covers a 2-visit package

The published package uses steam, residual spray, and dust where appropriate, with the exact scope confirmed after inspection and preparation review.

About Sterex warranties

Sterex pest warranties apply when prep is completed, technician recommendations are followed, and structural entry points are addressed. Wildlife work carries a 3-month warranty on the area and protection Sterex serviced; if a raccoon damages a Sterex one-way door or installed wire mesh during that period, Sterex returns at no charge.

What Affects Your Pest Control Quote

Infestation Severity

Light activity means the pest is present but contained — one or two cockroaches in a kitchen, a small ant trail near a door. Medium activity means consistent sightings, wider spread, or early signs of damage. Severe activity means the pest is established, breeding, and requires more product and more visits to clear.

With cockroaches, severe activity triggers a mandatory second treatment (+$150). This is quoted upfront — not added on the day of service. Bed bug service is a two-visit package so the technician can inspect and treat across more than one point in the activity cycle; Sterex does not offer it as a single-visit service.

Property Size

Larger homes require more product and more time on-site. Here is how size affects two common services:

Home TypeGeneral SprayMice Treatment
Townhome / condo (<1,500 sqft)$250$200
3-bedroom (~2,000 sqft)$250$250
4-bedroom (~3,000 sqft)$350$300
Large home (3,500+ sqft)$650+$50

Access and Height (Wasps and Wildlife)

Height adds cost. Wasp nests at or below 9 feet start at $175 with nest removal included — complications or difficult access may increase the quote. Anything above 9 feet requires ladder setup, safety equipment, and more time on-site at $250+.

SituationPrice ImpactWhy
Wasp nest up to 9 ftFrom $175Standard reach; complications may increase
Wasp nest above 9 ft (eaves, roofline)From $250Ladder + safety equipment, more time
Squirrel / raccoon — single entry pointBase rateStandard exclusion work
Multiple entry points+$100/repairEach additional damaged area or gap
Baby animal present in attic+$150–$200More care, more time, different equipment
Roof vent covers$55–$65/ventMaterial + labour, volume discount at 5+ and 10+ vents

Number of Kitchens (Cockroach)

Cockroach treatment costs $250 plus HST for one kitchen in a condo or townhome. A regular home up to 3,500 square feet costs $300 plus HST. Homes over 3,500 square feet require a quote. Scope, additional kitchens, infestation severity, preparation, access, and follow-up needs are confirmed before service.

Pest Type and Biology

Bed bugs cost more than ants because the work is more labour-intensive — steaming, residual spray, dusting, furniture access, preparation checks, and a mandatory second visit. Carpenter ants cost more than pavement ants ($350 vs. $150–$250) because they are inside the wood structure, not just foraging at the surface. Reaching an active carpenter ant nest requires more targeted work than a perimeter bait treatment.

Location and Travel

Standard rates apply across our core service area: Brampton, Mississauga, Toronto, Vaughan, Markham, and Richmond Hill. Jobs outside this area may carry a travel surcharge — we confirm this on the call. Most GTA residents will see no additional charge.

Annual Plans vs. One-Off Treatments — Which Is Worth It?

PackagePriceVisitsBest For
HomeGuard Annual$799/yr or $225/qtr4 seasonalHomeowners who want year-round coverage and don’t want to call every time
Summer Ant Protection$4992Homes that get ants every summer
Fall & Winter Mice$2793Homeowners dealing with mice as the cold hits
SeasonWhat HomeGuard includesStandalone value
SpringInterior + exterior spray + ant bait stations~$475 standalone value ($325 spray + $150 bait stations)
SummerInterior + exterior re-spray + 1 wasp nest removal~$500 standalone value ($325 spray + $175 wasp)
FallMice exclusion, bait setup, interior common-area baseboard spray$350+ standalone value
WinterMice bait-station check and refill$150+ standalone value

HomeGuard vs. booking each season separately

If you booked every bundled service on its own — spring spray plus ant bait stations, summer re-spray plus wasp removal, fall mice exclusion plus interior baseboard spray, and winter bait-station service — you would exceed $1,200 in standalone visits. HomeGuard at $799/year bundles all four seasons for less. Think of it like a landscaper or gardener contract: year-round protection so general crawling insects do not become emergency call-outs.

Compare plans on the shop page — Summer Ant Protection ($499), Fall & Winter Mice ($279), and HomeGuard annual coverage.

All packages include a digital service report emailed after every visit. View plans → or talk to us first.

Wildlife Removal Costs in Ontario

Wildlife jobs are one-off and high-ticket. No recurring contract — just quality exclusion work that is designed to actually fix the problem.

Core Services

AnimalBase PriceWhat’s Included
Raccoon removal$450One-way door + follow-up repair
Squirrel removal$350One-way door + follow-up repair
Bird removal$300Nest removal + debris vacuuming

Add-Ons

Roof vent covers (5–9 vents)Volume discount$60/vent
Roof vent covers (10+ vents)Volume discount$55/vent
Bird vent wire meshBird exclusionFrom $40

Wildlife pricing scales with complexity. A raccoon that found an opening yesterday is a different job from one that has been living in an attic for months with multiple entry points and structural damage. If babies are present, that adds time, care, and different equipment. Every wildlife job is field-assessed — we flag anything that affects the quote before we start work.

Wildlife work carries a 3-month warranty on the area and protection Sterex serviced. If a raccoon damages a Sterex one-way door or installed wire-mesh protection during that period, Sterex returns to correct the covered work at no charge.

Want to try DIY first? We sell raccoon deterrent spray, live trap rentals, and squirrel one-way doors directly — no technician required for light situations.

How to Compare Pest Control Quotes

A useful comparison looks beyond the starting price. Ask each provider to state the number of visits, preparation requirements, treatment area, follow-up terms, warranty conditions, HST, and any access or repair charges in writing.

Quote ItemWhat to ConfirmWhy It Matters
Visit countHow many visits and follow-ups are included?A lower single-visit price may not cover the full service plan.
Treatment scopeWhich rooms, units, entry points, or exterior areas are included?Property size and access can materially change the work.
Warranty termsDuration, covered area, exclusions, and customer obligationsCoverage is conditional and differs by service.
Total priceHST, inspection, travel, ladder, repair, and add-on chargesWritten totals make quotes comparable.

Sterex publishes the standard prices it can verify. Jobs that depend on access, property size, infestation severity, wildlife damage, or structural repair are quoted after those details are known.

Frequently Asked Questions

Most residential pest control jobs in Ontario run $150–$450 before HST. Cockroach treatment costs $250 for one kitchen in a condo or townhome, or $300 for a regular home up to 3,500 square feet; larger homes require a quote. Bed bug packages start at $400 for a 1-bedroom unit, mice treatments start at $200 for a townhome, and wasp nest removal starts at $175.

Outdoor rat programs are different — we continue population reduction over a 3-month period but cannot guarantee full elimination when activity is exterior-only.

Bed bug treatment requires more labour and multiple visits. Sterex packages bed bug work as two treatments using steam, residual spray, and dust where appropriate so the technician can address activity across more than one inspection and treatment point.

For most treatments — ants, mice, general spray — you can stay in the home. For cockroach spray, we recommend vacating for 2–4 hours. For bed bug treatment, you'll need to leave for several hours and follow preparation instructions before the visit.

HomeGuard ($799/year or $225/quarter on the shop) bundles four seasonal visits that would cost well over $1,200 if booked individually — spring interior/exterior spray plus ant bait stations, summer re-spray plus wasp nest removal, fall mice exclusion and interior baseboard spray, and winter bait-station service. Think of it like a landscaper or gardener contract: year-round protection so general crawling insects do not become emergency call-outs.

Nests at or below 9 feet start at $175 with removal included. Above 9 feet — eaves, rooflines, second-storey soffits — ladder work, safety setup, and access complications push the price to $250 or higher depending on the site.

Raccoon removal starts at $450 with Sterex, including removal and basic entry point sealing. Baby raccoons present add $200. Each additional entry point repaired costs $100. Roof vent covers — strongly recommended after wildlife work — run $65 per vent for 1–4 vents, with volume discounts at 5+ and 10+ vents.
