Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Sterex Pest Control handles personal information when you browse our website, request service, join our email list, rent equipment, or buy a product or protection plan.

Sterex does not sell personal information. Payment-card details are entered into Stripe's checkout and are not stored on Sterex servers.

Who is responsible

Sterex Pest Control is a pest-control and wildlife-removal service based in Brampton, Ontario, serving Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area. Sterex is responsible for the personal information under its control and handles it in accordance with applicable Canadian privacy law, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act where it applies.

Information we collect

Depending on how you use the site, we may collect:

  • name, email address, telephone number, and preferred contact method;
  • service, billing, delivery, or property address and postal code;
  • details about a pest issue, property, requested service, quote, or booking;
  • order items, delivery choices, transaction status, and Stripe order reference;
  • government-issued photo identification and rental-agreement information when required for a live-trap rental;
  • email-list preferences and information you submit through a contact form; and
  • device, browser, approximate location, referral, page-view, and advertising interaction data when you consent to optional analytics or advertising tools.

How we use information

  • respond to inquiries and prepare quotes;
  • confirm service areas, schedule visits, and provide pest-control services;
  • process purchases, subscriptions, rentals, delivery, and payment confirmation;
  • verify identity and administer equipment-rental agreements;
  • send transactional emails, calls, or text messages about a request or order;
  • send marketing email only where permitted and honour unsubscribe requests;
  • prevent fraud, misuse, security incidents, and payment disputes;
  • measure and improve the website and advertising when consent is provided; and
  • meet tax, accounting, insurance, legal, and regulatory obligations.

Cookies and advertising

The website uses local browser storage that is necessary to remember your cart and cookie choice. With your permission, it also loads Google Analytics, Google Ads measurement, and Meta Pixel. These tools may use cookies or similar technologies to measure visits, conversions, and advertising performance.

Optional analytics and advertising tools do not load until you select Accept All. You may select Decline and still use booking, shopping-cart, and Stripe checkout features. You can revisit your choice at any time using Cookie Settings in the website footer.

Service providers and information sharing

Sterex shares information only as needed to operate the business, complete your request, protect the service, or meet legal obligations. Providers may include:

  • Stripe for payment processing and transaction records;
  • Vercel for website hosting and security logs;
  • Resend and communications providers for email, calls, and text messages;
  • Google for address suggestions and, with consent, analytics and ads measurement;
  • Meta for advertising measurement when consent is provided; and
  • Sanity and other operational providers used to publish or support the website.

Some providers process information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to the laws and lawful-access rules of that jurisdiction. Sterex may also disclose information when required by law, to investigate fraud or safety concerns, or as part of a business transaction with appropriate safeguards.

Retention and safeguards

Sterex keeps personal information only as long as reasonably needed for the purpose it was collected, an active customer or rental relationship, warranty or dispute handling, and applicable legal, accounting, insurance, or tax periods. Information that is no longer required is deleted, anonymized, or securely disposed of.

A trap-rental ID image is temporarily held while checkout is pending. After a successful payment, the temporary copy is deleted once the rental record is generated and delivered to Sterex. The resulting business record is restricted to authorized personnel and retained only as needed for rental administration, safety, fraud prevention, and legal obligations.

Safeguards include access controls, encrypted HTTPS connections, server-side validation, restricted payment credentials, Stripe-hosted payment fields, signed webhook verification, and limits intended to reduce automated abuse. No method of transmission or storage is completely risk-free.

Your choices and rights

Subject to applicable law, you may ask to access or correct personal information Sterex holds about you, withdraw consent for optional uses, or ask a question about retention or a service provider. Withdrawal may not apply where information must be retained for a completed transaction or legal obligation.

Marketing emails include an unsubscribe method. Browser settings can also block or delete cookies, although clearing local storage may remove a saved cart. If a privacy concern is not resolved, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Children

Sterex services and online checkout are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through this website.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as the website, providers, or legal requirements change. The current version and effective date will remain available on this page.
