Bees
Bees are beneficial insects that pollinate plants. However, they can pose a threat when they establish colonies near human habitation.
Appearance
Bees have a fuzzy appearance with a robust body, two pairs of wings, and pollen baskets on their hind legs. Honeybees are golden brown, while carpenter bees are larger and mostly black.
Habitat
Different bee species nest in various locations. Honeybees form colonies in hollow trees or wall voids, while carpenter bees drill into wood, and bumblebees nest in the ground or in abandoned rodent burrows.
Signs of Infestation
- •Bees entering and exiting a specific area
- •Visible honeycomb or nest
- •Sawdust-like material below wood (carpenter bees)
- •Buzzing sounds in walls or ceilings
Prevention Tips
- •Seal cracks and gaps in the exterior of your home
- •Paint or varnish exposed wood surfaces
- •Remove abandoned nests
- •Keep flowering plants away from entrances
Treatment Options
Bee control requires careful consideration of the species involved. Honeybees are protected in many areas and should be relocated rather than exterminated. Our technicians are trained to handle bee problems safely and effectively.
